| As fans, I think that we can all agree that we've been putting up with a lot of shit since 1999, but this was a huge blow to my personal fandom.
The Traviss books, for me, were the best thing to come out of the prequel era. They brought humanity to the nameless clones with an authentic military feel, making you care a lot more about what happened. Those books are also the reason I am a Fett fan. They were probably the most realistic/relatable part of the SW universe.
When I heard about the Mandalorian story arc in Clone Wars, I just about busted a fanboy nut. But then Mandalore was pacifist? Okay so who's Mandalore at this point? What do you mean Dutchess? That whiny broad with flowers in her hair? Whats with the Picaso??? WHAT THE FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK????????
Unless this series really picks it up, this may be where I get off the bus.

| I have to say I feel ya. I have been waiting for a Mandalorian story for a while now and I'm not sure this really did it for me. I don't care so much that they are changing some things since I am a super hero comic reader, collector, etc. I am used to people rewriting EVERYTHING. I mean they can't tell an original super hero story to save their lives!
Anyway I guess I was a little let down by the big political part of the storyline. It felt way too much like the senate scenes from ep1. Satine was just the new Padme. I was really hoping for a down and dirty Mando fight or something. It's like they were spoon feeding us little bits of it. The last episode just felt like ep2 with Jango trying to kill someone all over again. I even heard a nod to the Jango drum music while the sniper was trying to shoot. I don't know, it just felt like the same old thing and hey, while were at it lets wreck all the novels and Dark Horse comics you've ever read!
I really hope they come back to this stuff later and try to fix what they've done here. I mean they even had the one guy say Jango wasn't a Mandalorian and he ganked the armor. I know he was taken in by the Mandalorians but he was raised as one of them. And so is Pre Vizsla the son of Tor Vizsla from Open Seasons? I get that if it's what they were going for. I have very mixed emotions about this story arc. They should have taken what Karen Traviss and others have done and run with it, not water it all down and change everything.

| yep. As far as all the EU stuff on Mandalorian culture, there's no difference between an adopted and a biological child. The pacifism part is a bit odd, but there is some support for that on the star wars wikia - - Quote :
- Decline of the Old Ways
With the end of the wars, and the beginning of a thousand years of peace, the Mandalorians began to move away from their conquering warrior past, and, over the next few centuries, the Mandalorians slowly transformed into a less clan-based, more mercenary-oriented culture. After a disastrous conflict against Republic forces, many Mandalorians abandoned the warrior traditions entirely, believing pacifism would be their only path to joining the galactic community. Mandalorians who clung to the "old ways" were exiled to Concordia, where it was believed they would eventually die out. The whole emphasis on politics feels very recycled. I think it's crap that LFL basically shut out Karn Traviss by making a cartoon canon while invalidating her work. While I can enjoy a cartoon, I have a hang up on the cartoon as authority. At first we had a movie and a book. We then got more movies, more books, and comics. Then games and now a cartoon. To just write off a prolific source that has contributed so much to the EU fanbase is just wrong.

| If you have an hour to blow while your online (or you can download the mp3 and take it with you) then you might find this conversation helpful.
Dave Filoni The Clone Wars Supervising Director talks about The Mandalore Plot
Dave, who works directly with George, has some answers to what we saw on the Mandalorian story arc. After hearing his point of view, I don't feel as uptight about the storyline.
I never knew that Boba Fett's back story for twenty years was that he was Jaster Mereel. That got thrown out too when GL made him a clone of Jango in AOTC. So this isn't really the first time the EU fans have been traumatized.
If you've never listened to the forcecast, this is a nice one to check out.
