PostSubject: Chicago Comic-Con 2010 Highlights (Trek vs Wars)   Mon Aug 23, 2010 9:10 pm

Just returned from Chicago and had a pretty good time. It was no Celebration V but at least a few familiar faces showed up!

Jake Lloyd

Jimmy Mac (Forcecast Host) and Daniel Logan

We met Ashley Eckstein at the "Her Universe" booth and she was really nice. I gave her some of my magnets, including a Wattos magnet, and she was kind enough to sign Dylan's autograph book. She even signed one of her Rebel Alliance Ahsoka cards and gave it to me. She is really sweet! She quoted a few clone wars lines to Dylan. It was the first thing Ahsoka said to Rex in the movie about outranking him. It was really exiting to hear Ahsoka Tano in person! I'm a big Ahsoka fan since I have a sixteen year old padawan, ahem, I mean daughter. I can relate to Anakin very well.

Richard Le Parmentier (Admiral Motti) was a surprise as he was not on the guest list.

I honestly can't believe I didn't get this autograph. If he would have had a picture with Vader on it, I would have gotten it. That is one of my favorite Vader lines as he is force-choking Motti, "I find your lack of faith disturbing."

Coming up next, The Star TREK actors! Stay tuned...

Trek vs Wars coverage continues

Up first we have Brent Spiner (Data - Star Trek: The Next Generation)

John de Lancie (Q - Star Trek: The Next Generation)

Walter Koenig (Chekov - Star Trek: The Original Series)

Avery Brooks (Sisko - Star Trek: Deep Space Nine)

Patrick Stewart had to cancel but his son attended. Brent Spiner and Daniel Stewart (Batai - Star Trek: The Next Generation)

All of the other stars were out in the open and ready to greet fans.

But like the Loch Ness Monster or the Yeti, it was very difficult to get a glimpse of the man himself...

We stood outside the booth like the paparazzi while the volunteers and bodygaurds waved their hands and jumped in front of the captain blocking our cameras and yelling "NO PICTURES!" I did happen to sqeeze this one off. I give you, The Illusive William Shatner! (Captain Kirk - Star Trek: The Original Series)

WOW man, Jake Lloyd still looks like a little douche! Daniel remembered you guys I see. What a good kid! I'd hang out with him. He seems like one of those guys you can just sit and have a beer with!

Holy CRAP the Star Trek crew looks terrible! Except for Shatner that is. Guy is damn near 80 and looks better then half the others!

I thought this was pretty interesting in Chicago. I guess they'll try anything to make a buck! I don't remember the vintage Boba Fett figure being a CV exclusive. And check out the mark up on the 4-LOM/Zuckuss pack!

I really wish we would have had the original trilogy cards at CV. I think that's kind of lame of Hasbro to give them out in San Diego and not in Florido. I would have much rather of had a Boba Fett cardback than the prequel ones. Oh well, I wasn't going to pay this guy $5 each for them!!!

After seeing how time-ravaged the Next Gen cast is, Koenig looks pretty well preserved.

Gotta say, I love that Chewie hiding a broken 3P0 shirt.

The only thing I can think of was that it was a rocket fire fett? I only saw one at CV and they were asking 60.00 for it! I'll wait a few more weeks and get the two I ordered for 14.00!

It's funny like you said what people will do for a buck! 45 dollars for the same set you can order from Starwarsshop.com for 15?

He must have sold a ton of them! LOL

Empy, the art on that Chewie shirt came from a local artist here, Jon Kulczar. He is also on DA and one of the people that inspired me to start drawing again. I met him at the Summit City con and bought a few cards from him. He goes to the same comic shop as me also. We asked if we could make shirts with his art so we made him some as well for a trade. Here is a link to his DA page. He has a lot of great stuff.

Derek, all it looks like to me is a vintage cardback fett just like the ones you guys bought. I haven't seen one yet around here but haven't been out too much. That dude was just false advertising.

Here are a few more highlights from Chicago Comic-Con.

The 501st came out from their dressing room with a bit of a different look this time around. They were sporting full Stark Industries armor and the crowd went wild!
