| While I was not a very big fan of the movie figures, I do like the look of the new waves coming out. The wave 4 Snake Eyes figure looks AMAZING! He has weapons from the original 1983 series, as well as some new kick ass stuff!
This current version of Duke even looks better then the one on shelves now. Looking forward to these, and when I pick them up, I will post pics here.

| The new stuff looks like it was inspired by command and conquer 2. I remember the old vintage stuff that actually looked like (then current) military hardware. At comic con I had the opportunity to talk to one of the guys about the evolving look. He said that the sci-fi look is preferable to the realistic since there are actual wars going on. A way of keeping fantasy and play separate from reality.
I'm not saying the new look is bad, I actually think design-wise it looks pretty cool, but it just doesn't feel very GI Joe to me. I grew up with the Joe team having olive drab hardware that resembled realistic stuff while Cobra had the crazy colors and odd designs.

| I have some of the same feelings ML. I love the fact that when they launched the 25th line, they went back to the roots and had most of the original Joe team in classic uniforms. A lot of the 25th vehicles also had the classic Joe look. I was lucky enough to get the Ultimate Battle Pack when it got marked down, and was super happy that the MOBAT tank was back!
Not a big fan of the Red HISS and the Blue trouble bubble, but I got it mostly for the tank and figures BECASUE they looked like the vintage ones.
As far as the fantasy from reality, that is what happend to the 12 inch line back in the 60's They didn't want to get mixed up with the wars, so that is when GI Joe became the Adventure Team. Gear started drifting from military to camping, hiking and rafting.

| OH MY GOD!
I used to have those stupid foam gliders! LOL They lasted about long enough to take a nose dive, and break on impact! I still have the figures though.

| Adam, you think THIS Snake Eyes looks sick? wait till you see the NEW version coming out.
Here is a link to the wave 3 figures in December. I don't know why they keep doing Snake Eyes over, but every time it gets BETTER!

| I remember I had more than a few Joes with my SW figures (and Robotech and M.A.S.K. figures) lol Had Mercer,Storm Shadow (V.2),Lifeline (the red and white version),Snake Eyes (V.3),Big Boa,Lightfoot,Shockwave and probably a few others I forget now. Coming from Australia where US Armed Forces where not something regularly seen except on TV or movies the Joe series has a certain "adventuristic" look to them and I liked them as adjunct characters to my SW figures. Read the Marvel G.I.Joe Comics as much as I could from comic stores in the city and find in newsagencies so these are part of my childhood experience from a toy POV. The newer figures to some degree do not always live up to the comics but definitely has come a long way in recent times,I picked up a whole lot of lesser to not seen G.I.Joe - Rise of Cobra figures from a local toystore @ $4.99 AUD each a while ago and liked those a lot more than the figures that had flooded shelves when the ROC movie came out. Red Hand,Storm Shadow variants and the various Vipers I think are cool. My current fave Snake Eyes is one from a trade with (?) but a member from here. GO JOE!!!! | |

| I dropped by Marshall's last night and they seem to be getting ready for the winter holiday season. More toys out. They had some of the rise of cobra figs (4.99) and some of the older ones (3.99). Not sure which waves, probably mixed. | |

| Sorry for the poor quality pics. I'm at work and I took the pics on my lunch break using my mobile's phone. Primitive but fast. | |

| I went to another Marshalls and found that they had some of the GI Joe comic packs for 7.99 (I think...) some of the smaller vehicles (12.99) and I saw a multifigure pack (19.99), the Cobra desert pack.
I went to Ross and they had soem GI Joe stuff too, the Ghost HAWK for 8.99, and some older stuff. I actually scored the Paris Pursuit Baroness figure for 3.99. That one was a hard to find figure when it was new. The package is pretty beat up though, so I'll be opening this one. Also scored a rise of cobra multipack for 12.99. Overall, Ross had a way smaller selection but better prices.

| So I picked up the NEW Snake Eyes. I really need to get a picture of him, but this figure is just BAD ASS. Two heads, the goggles version and the visor version. Too many guns, you can't even make him hold them all. Two knives, two pistols, explosive pack and two swords. Just a great figure. If you have been holding out on getting a Snake Eyes, THIS is the one to get! | |
